Eva Kail

First director of the Women's Bureau (Vienna), she created the Coordination Office for planning and construction adapted to the demands of everyday life.

Eva Kail has studied Urban and Regional Planning at the Technical University of Vienna and works for the City of Vienna. 

Eva Kail studied Urban and Regional Planning at the Technical University of Vienna and works for the City of Vienna, the Austrian capital. After the exhibition “Who owns public space? – Women´s Everyday Life in the City” she became the first head of the Women´s Office and initiated housing projects on women´s issues. Later she run in the Executive Office for Construction and Technology a unit focused on gender aspects in planning. Since 2010, she is part of the “Competence Centre Overall Urban Planning, Smart City Strategy, Participation, Gender Planning” there. She coordinated about sixty pilot projects in the fields of housing, urban design social infrastructure, participation, mobility and public space. As one of the leading administrative experts for Gender Planning in Europe, she is also involved in some gender planning activities of Multilateral Development Banks. Her special focus is a target group orientated quality assessment of planning processes and housing subsidies.
